Other countries views on stoners?

   When I holiday in Holland I feel I belong, I dont feel like a criminal that has to hide away from the public just to enjoy a smoke, being from the UK the general opinion I get from most non smokers is quite a dim view of us.

The media is always demonising people for smoking weed, Jeremy Kyle (the UKs Jerry Springer) is forever telling people what bad parents they are for smoking cannabis.

I just wanted to get more world views on the subject, in the UK alcohol and tobacco is acceptable but weed is not which I find crazy, its funny to see people call you a druggie whilst smoking a fag and drinking a pint, Plonkers.

	Yeah i agree. What annoys me the most is the way the media put all the drugs and drug users in one category no matter what your drug of choice is. For example, Swedish House Mafia played a huge outdoor gig on sat night, 60,000 people and it turned into a mess, everyone off there tits on this new "pink e" or PMA and cocaine, one fella stabbed 9 people, 2 are still in ICU, i think 12 people in total were stabbed and one young fella died from a PMA overdose, and somehow the talk on the radio talkshows about what happened has led to people giving out about weed and how easy it is to get and that its a gate way drug. In Ireland anyway, alcohol is the gateway drug, when i was 13 i could buy flagons of cider without ID, drinking said flagons in a field is where i got my first ever drag of a joint!! Things are still the same only the 13yr olds are drinking at home, more than likely drinking booze there parents bought for them. Im a bouncer and ive had drunk parents come to the door calling me a wanker for not letting their drunk 16 yr old in the club. Its a fuckin joke that this behaviour is acceptable and smoking a joint isnt.

	UK, Australia and most English-speaking nations I've been to have the same problem of course. The media and the uninformed section of the public are trained to parrot "Drugs. Bad. Tsk tsk." at the merest mention of cannabis, yet the alcohol/violence/stupidity/death matrix is accepted as a part of their proud culture. PS - Jerry Springer is a principled, progressive guy who happened to have a really crappy TV show. Jeremy Kyle is the spawn of Satan.

	I couldnt agree, more why on earth people think getting totally hammered on booze being abusive & agressive then puking all over the place is tolerable but someone having a joint and then doing nothing but usualy loving everyone & everything :) and generaly being a nice quite person is soooo bad. Im a brit living in Spain where its not illegal to grow and smoke your own personal weed so long as your not bothering anyone else people and the cops dont care one bit. Come on world wake up and get with the program you can buy harder drugs from your local chemist over the counter these days but when it comes to a bit of weed your public enemy number one or as said before a druggie ! I just dont get it !!!
