Hello All,
I am looking for some guidance. I am growing in a greenhouse. I am growing Early Skunk, Rishi Kush, Dr. Grinspoon and Parvati. All but the Early Skunk have revealed their sex - weeks ago. I am not inexperienced - not a pro either - and I know what I am looking for in terms of identifying the sex of the plant. Thoughts? Thanks. |

Hi
I'm not sure what would cause something like that but then again I'm not an expert on the subject. Maybe this is a freakishly slow maturing phenotype of the strain, if such a thing exists. Or maybe the photo-period is still not right for this particular plant. As they seem to differ in terms of when they usually start to mature and show sex under natural lighting. Because of the greenhouse, you can enjoy an extended growing season. So if the plant is still vegetating healthily I would leave it be . It is bound to show sex sooner or later, that is if an external factor such as artificial lights is not interfering with the process. Anyway, best of luck in your grow and I hope this not-so-early skunk plant of yours turns out to be a lovely female. |

I noticed that it's usually the males that show first, so on that basis, it's looking good you have a girl! This yr I ended up with 12 plants of which 4 are girls, the first female plant to show was around mid June, the last one showed only 10 days ago. It's been a crazy season over this side of the world, lots of strange goings on due to the bad weather, how has it been where you are?

Thanks for the prompt replies. Weather is great out here. Summers are getting to be much cooler though. I'm wondering if the Early Skunk is just very light sensitive during the night periods? The other strains are adapting. I'll just have to wait and see. I will keep you all posted.

It's not unusual for an outdoor plant to still be in full vegetative growth in July.
Many outdoor plants will show preflwoers by this stage, but the days aren't yet short enough to trigger real flowering in most photosensitive plants. |
