Hi
I have a question. Im designing a grow room and i have found a few problems. Im going to have 3x600hps in a row connected through the cooltube so that the heat wont be a problem but... I would like to connect one side of the lamps from outside air and other side in my apartment so i could use fresh air and heat generated from the lamps at winter time (i will probably only be growing at winter). (intake and outake from the grow place will be installed separately) The problem is that where i live at winter could be very freezing outside like -10 degress celzius or even more. Im wondering if that"s ok for hps bulbs. I would probably start ventilating about 10min later when the lights go on (when they are warm), but wouldnt be this bad and too cold for hps bulb? There is another issue with that setup. If cold air (-10) comes from outside in the hot cooltube it will start to condensate and produce water wont be? Should i insolate all flexi tubes connecting the cooltubes? Whats your experiences with this setup guys? I havent found this info yet on internet.
Thank you for your answers! |

Even very cold air won't stay cold for long when it's drawn up the intake tube. The overall temp of the growroom might need to be boosted a bit if drawing in midwinter air, but I don't think it's possible for cold air to provide enough of a temperature difference to cause hot glass to shatter.
As for condensation, this is more common with warmish air. At -10C, it's quite likely that air will be drier. |

bottom line is it's going to take you experimenting with it to get it to run just right. and season to season, things will change causing you to rethink and refigure certain elements of the equation.
set the thing up, run it, see what you get temp and humidity wise. then work from there |

Also keep in mind in the winter the temperatures may be low enough to create condensation. The only reason I said this is because I had the same idea and came in to my room to see my hoods with water all in them. Which can lead to many more probs as far as fire safety is concerned.
