Regards to all

I find this forum very useful for some information about growing industrial hemp. I’m starting to grow ind. Hemp, and because I don’t have any experiences and also in Slovenia, where I came from, are no institute or individual, which have some information, I’m askng if anyone can give me some information. I’m would like to know where can I buy seeds, which sort, what is the processing, technology, of growing, how many hemp will grow on 1ha, and most of all, where can I sell hemp. This information I need because I have to have contract with buyer in advance, if I want to get the permission of our ministry of agriculture.

So, any kind of information I could use will be useful…… %3cpprove

Thank you for your kindness and best regards

Try contacting HempFlax. They're the biggest hempseed/hemp-fibre company in this part of the world.

You should be able to buy hempseed from HempFlax with no problem. In most of the EU, industrial hempseed, which produces plants with THC content below 0.3%, is legal to trade and own. Certified non-THC varieties (like USO-31, from HempFlax) are also technically legal to grow without a license in much of the EU, though for a stress-free grow, you should definitely obtain permission/a licence before starting.

Come to think of it, even if you had no legal problems growing industrial hemp without a licence, you might find it hard to sell the harvested plants/fibres without official documentation.
Any business that wanted to buy the hemp would almost certainly require certification that the cannabis they were buying was not contraband.

For industrial growing, plants per square metre depends on the desired outcome. Plants grown for fibre are sown very close together, in order to encourage the plants to compete to outgrow each other - making them taller and thereby making their fibres longer.
Plants grown for seed (for human consumption or to produce seed-oil for health products and cosmetics) are spaced further apart. There is a lot of literature on this subject, and you should be able to find plenty with google.
This might be a good place to start; the IHA publishes a very informative journal: http://www.internationalhempassociation.org/

Where to sell the produce from an industrial hemp crop may be a more difficult question. Refining hemp into useful and valuable fibre is quite a specialised process. HempFlax has spent years developing special methods which allow them to process hemp into the highest quality hemp fibre available (ie with no wood content). However, such factories aren't very common in Europe.
The other problem is transportation. Hemp is very heavy, so to make it cost effective, it has to be processed quite close to where it's produced. Slovenia-Holland would be too far. IIRC, Hungary does a lot of hemp-processing (and possibly the Czech republic too), though I'm not sure if this is close enough to Slovenia to make transporting hemp worthwhile.

You should send an email to info@hempflax.com if you want to enquire about obtaining hempseed. They may also be able to answer some of your questions about processing the crop. My guess is that you'd need to find a buyer/hemp-processing factory in Slovenia.

Lep pozdrav,
