newbie car hid

Hey guys, i been using this forum to gain some knowledge on starting my own personal stuff. with all the info i have gained here about lighting and the importance of light, i am curious to know if i can use car hid's with a kelvin rating of 6k. i am not sure if this is practical but the ballast is smaller takes 12v so just curious n e help will be appreciated

Hmmm... Just did a quick Google search for vehicle HIDs.

From what I can see, the 35w Xenon HIDs give off 3,200 lumens each, so you would need 10 of them (ie 350w) to produce the same amount of light as one 250w HPS light.

Even the 50w Xenon HIDs can only manage 4,500 lumens - or 90 lumens per watt.

Compare that to HPS lights:
250w HPS = 32,000 lumens = 128 lumens per watt.
400w HPS = 55,000 lumens = 137 lumens per watt.
600w HPS = 90,000 lumens = 150 lumens per watt.


6K kelvin rating is okay for vegging plants, but a lower rating would be more preferable for flowering plants.
